Quakers feel it is very important to aim to live our lives in accordance with our spiritual beliefs, even when this may, at times, make us seem somewhat unconventional. Our actions to live in harmony with our spiritual beliefs form our “testimony” to the world. Although you may encounter slightly different lists of the Quaker Testimonies, they usually include
- Simplicity
- Peace
- Integrity
- Equality
Sometimes Community is added to spell out the acronym SPICE. The Quaker Testimonies are an outward expression of our inner spirituality.
Quakers feel it is not sufficient simply to believe in the importance of these values, and that we must strive to live our whole lives in accordance with them. We refer to this as “Faith in Action”. Some of the ways in which Irish Quakers put their faith into action can be found in the section about Quakers Today.
