Inchcleraun (Quaker Island) Academic Tour was runner up in the 2024 Water Heritage Day Award. This is one of nine award categories, each with just 3 finalists chosen from 2,300 events during Heritage Week 2024! Congratulations to all involved but in particular to Herbert Farrell for his careful stewardship of the Island.
The theme for Heritage Week 2024 was Connections, Routes and Networks to explore ways we are connected to each other through physical or cultural connections. The final event of the week was Water Heritage Day on Sunday 25th August, which provided an opportunity for everyone to engage with and learn about local waterways, lakes, rivers, beaches and coasts. Events considered for the Water Heritage Day Award include those that explored how a canal, river, lake or sea shaped the heritage of a locality or celebrated water as an integral part of our natural heritage.

Tim Coughlan, Monkstown Meeting, put in a huge amount of work around organising a trip for Friends to Quaker Island and helping Herbert organise the tour.
