The dates for IYM 2024 are 17-21 July, and the Yearly Meeting will be held in Cork City. The venue is the Cork College of FET, Douglas Street Campus (formerly St. John’s Central College). This is the same venue that was used for IYM 2013. It is located very near the Cork Quaker Meeting House. The full address is
Cork College of FET Douglas Street Campus, Sawmill St, Cork, T12 DW32
The theme is “The Spirit of Ubuntu” – those not familiar with this concept (many of us, I expect!) can have a look at What Does Ubuntu Mean? by Will Haire. Ubuntu conveys the idea that we are all interconnected; one very short definition is Humanity to Others.
An updated (July 12) IYM 2024 programme is now available, including four Special Interest Groups to be held on July 7-10. All plenary sessions will be held in blended format (in person and online).
A new aspect of this year’s programme is that everyone coming to IYM in person will be assigned to a Base Group. In order to help those attending Ireland Yearly Meeting in person to get to know each other better and to discuss a range of issues we are exploring at the Yearly Meeting, we are dividing during three sessions into smaller groups called Base Groups. Each of these will have up to 15 people, one of whom will act as convenor. The Base Groups will meet in various spaces in the IYM venue.
It is hoped that holding discussions in these smaller groups will be helpful in letting everyone contribute, as well as letting us get to know each other better.
