World Quaker Day is coming up (5 Oct)!

Quakers believe that anyone can have a direct, unmediated relationship with God, sometimes described as a Light in every person.

This leads us to strive for peace, equality and environmental protection. We also try to live relatively simply, and to treat others as we would wish to be treated ourselves.

All of this is a reflection of the ‘Great Commandment’: to love God and ‘love your neighbour as yourself’.

In times when conflict, untruths and unfairness seem to dominate, join us in exploring what love can do on World Quaker Day, Sunday 5 October 2025.

The theme for this year’s World Quaker Day will be Love your neighbour. You can find information about events being organised around the world, as well as resources to help you in organising an event at your own Meeting, at https://fwcc.world/event/wqd-2025/ .

Quaker Learning Day (Nov. 1)

A Quaker Learning Day will take place at Quaker House, Dublin on Saturday 1st November 2025.

The overall theme will be how we can build caring and thriving Meetings together across our Yearly Meeting.

The morning session will focus on how we can foster pastoral care for everyone, (speakers: David Kingston and Alannah O’Neill), while the afternoon session will look at ways in which Quaker Meetings and Worship Groups are reaching out to seekers and supporting new Attenders and Members (speakers: Susanna Murdoch, James Nelson, Anne Ferris, Rachel Cave, Sean Kinsella, Will Haire, Kit Harty and Limerick Friends).

All are welcome! Registration is now open at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/VMG2HBF.

More details can be found in this Quaker Learning Day flyer. We hope to have as many attend as possible.

DAQC Gathering: Inner Development for Outward Change (Oct 18)

Monkstown Friends are hosting a Gathering on .Saturday October 18, 2025.  The Gathering will feature a talk by Sue Saunders on the topic:

Inner Development for Outward Change.

The development of inner growth to support the outward challenges of the 17 UN Sustainability Development Goals.

The 17 Sustainable Development Goals agreed by the UN in 2015 were an urgent call for action by all countries to end poverty, improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change. https://sdgs.un.org/goals  Recent research has shown that inner development can support the skills needed to meet these goals.

Monkstown Friends are looking forward to welcoming Friends from other Meetings.
